ringing the Texas of long ago to today’s audiences, Scott Killen’s Texas folklore presentations entertain and educate. At ease around a campfire or in a classroom, he tells stories that are especially suited for children between the ages of six and eighteen.  Sprinkled with asides to relate history to the present, his stories nicely complement  required fourth and seventh grade Texas history curriculums.

cott’s performances span the spectrum of prose, poetry and an occasional nineteenth century ballad. His repertoire includes fact, folklore and fiction along with stories that range from pioneering Texas to learning to fly biplanes at Randolph Field in San Antonio.  Thematic presentations of the quest for gold, Texas Rangers, outlaws, life on the range, and Indian stories are painted with a palette of words to illustrate a time gone by.

 

cott is a member of the Texas Commission on the Arts Touring Artists roster and on the board of the Central Texas Storytelling Guild.  He's been telling stories for over fifteen years and has performed for many diverse groups:
